Frenzy

Hush! I tell my weary heart not to cry
as mayhem is unleashed in a flurry
I sip life slowly; the world jostles by
the time has come for us all to worry

as mayhem is unleashed in a flurry
wonder if people ponder their time here
the time has come for us all to worry
I frown, as I try to blink back a tear

wonder if people ponder their time here
a frenzied rush leading no where
I frown, as I try to blink back a tear
as I hear of killings here and there

a frenzied rush leading no where
I sip life slowly, the world jostles by
as I hear of killings here and there
hush! I tell my weary heart not to cry

  1. “I sip life slowly” – this feels exquisite words to be with – ” as the world jostles by” The heart does feel weary right now my friend Punam. I am with you in the wonder if people are pondering or squandering their time here. Including myself – am I using or squandering the gift of my time here. Your poem speaks very clearly to our present times and inner experiences.

  3. A great response, Punam: we could all do with slowing down sometimes! It sounds like an interesting prompt…I’m a bit out of the loop due to publishing activities 😅
