Plumblines are useless
naked eyes can’t see
colourless chaos
swirling within
corralled in a small space
a brobdingnagian,
bottomless void;
absence does that
sitting by the phone
willing it to ring
for a voice to fill it
pain drips slowly
Today’s challenge is to write a poem about a very large thing. It could be a mountain or a blue whale or a skyscraper or a planet.
What do you see # 129 – April 11, 2022
The pain in the last verse is palpable and the longing in this piece–concrete–hurts.
So well crafted Punam.
Thank you for a new word–have added ‘brobdignagian’ to my list of new words:)

It’s always hard, waiting on that call, because we don’t want to believe, that the other individual had, forgotten about us…

A poem entitled “Absence” could be left blank/empty. The imagination is very large.

Imagination is certainly large but blankness is not poetry for me. 🙂

From my perspective anything can be poetry/song/picture. That doesn’t mean it is. “Can” is full of potential as well as worms.

Lol I wouldn’t like to open a can of worms with a rebuttal!

Waiting is always difficult, if not always painful. A big word, a small space and the waiting is palpable.

The first line truly gabbed my attention and startled me – Plumb lines are useless.

As far as measuring the emptiness left by absence is concerned.

Ok, first of all, Punam – you are an amazing poet. Second of all, I’ve never heard “brobdingnagian” before – this is totally new to me!

I just went back to my childhood and dredged that word from Gulliver’s Travels. 😊❤️
