Days washed pale in lowlight sun

Nights grown wan with ashen moon

Disembodied voices echoing hollowly

Faint smiles fading gradually

Life bleached of all emotions

Days moving in slow motion

Feelings all in grey monochrome

My heart feels it is without a home

Insipid food, bland and tasteless

Soulless music flatlines dully

Your absence always leaves me

In a world bereft of all colours.

  1. Oh, wow, this describes depression or grief very well. Such haunting writing here! I’m stunned. The descriptions are captivating and the imagery they provide hits those evocations of such hard topics. Brilliant piece, very emotional and well written.

  2. Punam, you have so deftly created imagery that fits with that sense of depletion and blandness and emptiness left by your love’s absence. Even the moon is waning….
