Today, we’d like to challenge you to write a poem about a dull thing that you own, and why (and how) you love it. Alternatively, what would it mean to you to give away or destroy a significant object?
Self portrait of Yudhishtra
In that one act of desperation
to win back all that I had lost
in that fateful game of dice
which I could not refuse
to play as a kshatriya,
I bet on my lucky charm,
my significant half,
the co-wife of us
five brothers, Draupadi
as luck would have it
not only did I lose the bet,
I lost respect in her eyes
and the humiliation that she suffered
because of me
led to the horrendous Kurukhetra war
that unfortunately spelt
the end of the illustrious Kuru dynasty.
You can read about the game of dice here.
Wow – Just wow – I loved it
