9. Sestina on Exploration
Touching the skies, a feeling so novel
sleeping under the canopy of stars in the woods
sitting on the shore amidst the crashing waves
going clackety- clack in the mile long train
roaming, exploring, feeling the world
oh the joys of travel nothing can beat!
Moving ahead listening to the raindrops’ beat
being one with nature, a feeling so novel
with one purpose, to traverse the world
not thinking of past, being out of the woods
moving at a pace, like the wind whooshing by the train
as the fear of the unknown recedes in waves.
A sound so soothing, the lapping of waves
to crash on the beach when one is beat
to be in tandem with mind, body I train
discarding old notions, embracing the novel
deep and dark are the inviting woods
but something seems amiss in this world.
I seem to be drowning in the weariness of the world
despite nature’s beauty, the ugliness around hits in waves
I need to retire to the inner calming woods
this feeling of helplessness I have to beat
In my favourite corner of home with a novel
I must sit as for inwards journey I train.
There is trepidation as my mind I train
There is anxiety as I disconnect with the world
to be with just myself an experience so novel
uneasiness washes over me in waves
no intrusions, as stress I try to beat
I must find home as I explore inner woods.
Light, airy and inviting are these woods
body and mind move in rhythm as they train
I march in rapture to my own beat
I accept with all flaws this, my world
I have learnt to ride with equanimity life’s waves
too focussed in without, accepting within is novel.
After exploring the woods and the world
I tried to train and tame my mind’s unruly waves
To be able to beat the uncertainties, a feeling so rich and novel!
