End of Summer Scavenger Hunt (6)

Val of A Different Perspective is running the End of Summer Scavenger Hunt, where we have to write 13 poems in August in the prescribed form on the given topics.

10. Octina on Revenge

Sweet Revenge

As she runs the bath for her beloved

Filling it with bubbles and froth

She hums to herself an old forgotten ditty

Talking of love and betrayal, it doth

She picks up the pile of clothes from the corner

Out falls a photo of a pretty maiden on the floor

It has her beloved’s name on the back

Her heart has been asunder tore!

Filled with rage, the photo she tore

She recalls recent aloofness of her beloved

She is certainly not the kind to try to win him back

She needs her sweet revenge, her mouth froths

She plots and draws up a plan on floor

Humming under her breath “better than revenge” ditty

Wrath overtakes her, love has turned a corner

He has no clue, nor an inkling he doth!

Her crafty mind thinks of  a devious plot, it truly doth!

She gets mightily busy though her heart it tore

He calls to tell  he’s held up in traffic’s clutch at the office corner

Enough time for her to plan what to do with her beloved

She will be dressed like a siren, singing his favourite ditty

Tired and weary as he would come back

Candles and jasmine to pretty the floor

Though her innards did pretty much froth!

She offers him his favourite chilled bubbly with froth

Bites the bait  with gullibility, upon my word, he doth!

Clutching his throat he is sprawled on the floor

The poison, as planned, did his gullet tore

All spent, he lies lifeless on his back

The torn photo still fluttering in a corner

She hums feverishly her favourite ditty

As she bids goodbye to her beloved!

A frothy office affair and there was no turning back

Revenge doth make one turn a corner

Dead and spent on the floor like a forgettable ditty

She tore away forever from her heart, thoughts of her beloved.
