Tathastu* (so be it)

When the razzle and dazzle of technology beckons
bedazzled, impressionables easily succumb
the insidious reach of mass hypnotic weapons
cuts real deep making dumber the dumb

a few conniving to control the minds of millions
treat them as fodder, as their moronic minions
who happily lap the tripe served, asking for more of it
if as a result, autocracy thrives, so be it!

A Rispetto for Sadje’s wdys.

*Tathastu : In Sanskrit, it means ‘So be it’. It’s a belief that the Gods are watching us from above and whatever you say good or bad, Gods from above may say Tathastu, anytime!

      1. Putin, Hitler, and others should be punished.

I believe in my duty as a human being in doing good and helping

anyone in need, including animals, and nature in general such as trees, plants, etc. And doing it without being watched over by any deity. Judging by many volunteers working all over the world to make life better for others I am not alone.

Also, we don’t look for any rewards, just the satisfaction of a life lived well.

        PS. apologies for the sermon!

      2. They certainly should! That’s the reason I believe there is no god because people like them get away unpunished.

I totally agree with you. Hinduism firmly believes in karma. We should do our duty without any desire of reward or fear of retribution.
Please don’t apologise. Through engagement we learn so much. 🙏🏼

      3. PS. I think that I knew your name but somehow I lost it, I don’t know why because it is distinctive and interesting name.

Is there any meaning attached to your name such “the chosen one” or anything else?

      4. No worries. We are interacting with so many bloggers that it is easy to forget a few names. I know, I forget often…😅

Punam comes from Poornima which means the full moon …hence my gravatar! 😊

  1. A messed up world we’re living in. What’s happening in our nation sickens me. The way the sheeple eat up everything the PR machine churns out makes me ill. Autocracy is thriving, and I wish someone would do something about it.

    1. I couldn’t agree more, Nitin. It is truly sickening to the core. Only we can do something about it but sadly more than half of the people have been fed drivel so much that they can’t think on their own.

    1. Hi Kunjal. Thanks so much.
Rispetto is eight lined and usually each line has 11 syllables. It can be in one stanza or two quatrains (4 lined stanza). The rhyme scheme is ababccdd. I hope this helps. 😊

  2. Love this, Punam! ❤ When it comes to technology such as more sophisticated deadly weapons, more intrusive invasion of our privacy, and new challenges to human creativity such as AI, we may do well to be careful what we wish for!

  3. Your poem is so perfectly composed – the beauty of how you choose words, and the state of our world – I loved the use of the word Tathastu. Literally a chaos from so many things coming true…
