A chance encounter

It was at a crossing
when looking askance
quizzical eyes met
wide saucer-eyes
a heart skipped
a nose quivered
excited hands flapped
pert ears cocked
but what sealed the deal
was the audible gasp
by the pigtailed human
and the doggy heart just flipped!

Written for Sadje’s wdys and dVerse quadrille Monday. Today’s host has asked us to write a quadrille with the word gasp in it.
