Promised a star-spangled life, I floated dreamily
at dusk memories twinkled merrily like stars
but nefarious moon showed her dark side
her littered paraphernalia leaves welts on my heart
looking ahead for signs of life beyond stardust
(starry-eyed no more), I brace for dawn.
Written for dVerse. Today’s host, De has asked us to write a quadrille which must have the word star.
That Hollywood sidewalk
We see on tv
Was born in the dreams of depressions
Economic and psychological have the same mother
Who lets her children become hard
And walked on by countless admirers
Who share similar visions of star
Because sidewalks take you places

Learning the truth can be so painful. I’m glad she is aware of the danger now.

Oh, that nefarious moon! She’s a wily one. I loved this.

lol you certainly packed every variation of ‘star’ that you could in there! But you’re right every life has its bright and dark sides, focusing on the bright dims that dark 🙂

This line really grabbed me, “her littered paraphernalia leaves welts on my heart.” There is pain in going through the dark side. Thank goodness for the coming dawn.

Those fickle stars. Yes, bracing ourselves to face a new day when the stars have all faded. I loved that ending.
