Just a minute!
before you cross the threshold and enter my home
leave your mealy- mouthed platitudes by the doorstep
wipe that look of fake abject humility from your face as you wipe your feet
and drop that pseudo hushed tone too
there will be no photo-ops inside
I can very well do without your commiseration in my hour of grief
but luckily for you I was brought up with values
that I am loath to give up even for a low-down scumbag like you
you may posture as much as you like outside my door
but once you enter, do not pollute my sanctum sanctorum
curb your proclivity to spew your sugar laced venom
there is a whole lot of people out there sitting on their haunches
eager to lap up your drivel and never suffering from reflux
better keep this visit short
for the sake of your so-called respectability
for profanities would be clawing at the back of my throat for release.

I am glad you like it.

Geez, Punam dear. What happened? And knowing how you feel about this anger inducing individual you still let them in? I don’t think I would.
But I get it. Your poem speaks genius to the very end. Thanks for sharing.

No, I didn’t, Selma! But do you think they would dare after this dressing down! Lol
Can’t help the direction my thoughts take some days. Thanks so much for your support.

Wow. Do you have red hair too?? I have far too many filters and manners to actually say this but I confess I have had these thoughts!!!

Lol Val! Most Indians are black haired! Oh, when I speak I have a whole set of filters but my pen has none! 😉

OMG – who has brought out this wrath? It would be nice, if one day, I am able to look at these people with compassion (knowing they have their own demons that they fight as they spew sugar-laced venom).
May that day come soon when we have the power to not accept the gift (of profanities) that is given to us.

No one and every one! I don’t know if that day will ever come and since I am too polite to say it on their face, I need to vent through the written word.
