Single-mindedness (OctPoWriMo)

(From Pexel)

Day 21

Prompt: Discipline

Form: Acrostic

Daring to dream of dedicating life to the craft
Is certainly not as easy as it seems
Setting goals for self and then walking on the
Chosen path; two banks of a river at times
Intent to bridge the gap always there
Perseverance is sometimes in short supply
Life’s plans and mine often don’t coincide
I am forever looking for a median track
Not meeting deadlines I do hate
Efforts continue to fall in line with the objectives.

  1. “It’s been said that there are only two pains in life, the pain of discipline or the pain of regret, and that discipline weighs ounces while regret weighs tons.” ― Anthony Robbins

  2. Over the years I have come to give less weightage to plans and more to ‘going with the flow’.

I shared here how ‘going with the flow’ finally made me find my Ikigai –

Man proposes and God disposes has happened to me too many times to not listen to the lessons of the Universe. 🙂

I often question the amount of focus we put on goals – so much and to such an extent that obsessing over the goal takes away the joy of the process AND the anxiety and obsession actually keep us from reaching the goal – i see that happening with so many of my clients!

    1. I go with the flow kind. But certain areas of life need discipline.
I am not talking of striving tirelessly to achieve goals but more about striking a balance and being focussed.
But I guess our experiences teach us to trust our instincts. 😊

  3. Ah! I love, love, this poem. You’ve created it perfect, Punam. The emotions of feeling resigned and then up for the challenge, are all part of it, discipline that is. Excellent, my friend. ❤️

  4. Punam this one touched me! The message is clear and the acrostic is so well done that if you hadn’t mentioned the form I probably wouldn’t have seen it! I was just enjoying the alliteration!!
