End/Beginning (OctPoWriMo)

(From Pexel)

Day 10

Prompt: Ending/Stopping

Form: End-stopped

Is it the end of the road for me?
Life still has some aces up its sleeve:
Keeping her fist as closed as it can be
And occasionally bringing us to grieve;
Not all of us get what we quest,
Sometimes what seems like a beginning,
Is the joker dealt by life in jest,
At others we may not see where it is ending.

There are no tricks to surviving, it seems,
You go with the flow and not against it;
Not every rock is diamond though it gleams,
And sometimes it is best not to fight but submit.
As long as we play fair and square,
Even if it is the end of beginning, we needn’t get scared!

      1. You’re welcome Punam. I think you should follow Mitch’s example and publish your poems. They will make a remarkable collection.

      2. Sadje, that is so sweet of you to say. Mich has done wonderfully well and is an inspiration.
        Honestly, I don’t think I am ready yet to take that step. Love poems have a market, my kind of mixed poems don’t. Maybe sometime in future….😊
        Thank you so much for thinking that I should publish. ❤️

      3. Love poems have a market but your kind of poems have one too. Creating awareness about life and many of its issues is something many of us need to read.

  1. all said above sis, this is so beautifully wise, said with such inner strength! Love your poem and the format … must look at doing one!

    You are so right ‘love’ is very commercial, the kinds of poems we write would be much tougher to ‘sell’!

      1. I get you but still our statements need to be circulated more widely and frankly your analogies of daily domestics would resonate deeply with others … haven’t you noticed your stats rocketing skywards + more followers!

  2. Well done! I have to agree that all of the endings are also beginnings. It is all perspective. Going with the flow can reduce anxiety and increase feelings of success. When we don’t struggle we find that life will carry us where we can thrive.

  3. and yet alas, we realise this after year and decades of struggling…. looking for the evasive peak or goal…. and then going after the next one because this is not good enough or high enough…. or things have changed and one needs more….

    And all this while missing the beautiful scenery, the flowers by the road, the lovely people that we do not stop to talk to but rush past, and the awesomeness of everything around us!

  4. I love how you say end of beginning. It is indeed not necessary to fight or fear transitions , trust the flow and process for there is a beginning hidden in every end. What a beautiful poem to indulge in!
