Guest Emotion

Gung-ho, attractive and daring
Unexpectedly arriving with an overflowing portmanteau
Eager to occupy the vacant space
Stealthily making way to the heart on the bias
Tricky love puzzled mind also does abduct!

Making its arrival known with a lot of fanfarE
The lips flutter in a smile like a blooM
The silly heart dances with gustO
Tattooing only one name in the chesT
Then suddenly it leaves without an alibI
The mind again feels like a stupid bozO
Taken on the same old ride once agaiN.

Written for dVerse.

Lillian says:  I challenge you to either write a poem that in some way relates to a puzzle you’ve been faced with, or includes the word “puzzle”; or try your hand at an Acrostic; or extra points if you write an Acrostic Plus!

A double acrostic and acrostic plus.

  1. Good choices, double and plus Acrostic. Puts me in mind of a scene from WHO’S AFRAID OF VIRGINIA WOLFF?, and a game called GET THE GUESTS…a line from Richard Burton.

  2. Arrived home late last night….after three flights on three separate days were cancelled. UGH. And I was trying so hard to read and reply to some of the posts but did not have my computer and do not use thumbs on my iphone….pecking with an index finger is the pits! So here I am this morning….had two cups of coffee and enjoying reading all these acrostics!!!
LOVE that you did the “double” on the first stanza while also doing the acrostic plus! And oh yes….as many said, that use of the word “bozo” was unexpected and made light of the situation. Sometimes guests do indeed wear out their welcome…evidently this one simply decided to leave…maybe for the better? 🙂

    1. Traveling during these times has become so troublesome. If you are not used to it, reading and writing on the phone is no fun.
Thanks a lot, Lillian. I was thinking of a word ending with an O and bozo popped in and refused to go! And changed the tenor of my poem. Who can say for better or worse… definitely gave me this poem, so can’t complain. 😄

  3. Love this especially;

“The lips flutter in a smile like a blooM
The silly heart dances with gustO
Tattooing only one name in the chesT,”

    Beautiful, beautiful work done 😀
