I weep not for me
I can endure the pain you give me
I am eternal and immortal
even when destroyed, I reinvent myself
under that gushing waterfall
do you see that lone tear
silently slipping down?
It is for you
for what you have become
for the depths to which you have plunged
your life tangled
in the brambles of living
your naked wantonness
circling like ravens and crows
if only you had been
intelligent like them
been without fears and prejudices
you wouldn’t have caused
so much misery to yourself and me
I will recover and replenish myself
what pains me is that you call me mother
then attribute retribution as one of my qualities!
which mother would harm her child!
I weep for you my child
for what you have become
your uncontrollable greed and hubris
has brought you to the brink
step back my child
mend your ways untangle yourself
I wait for you with open arms
I weep not for me!
This tore me. So powerful.

The earth does weep. And as ungrateful children we refuse to acknowledge our wrongs. There is so much truth in this poem – causes me to weep too.

Aww! Thank you so much for your heartfelt response. We are ungrateful children, I agree.

Powerful post Punam my dear! My sweet mother earth, I feel her sorrow and yearn to take her pain away. It starts with one to make a difference. Over a lifetime, the impact is tremendous…..though it would be profound if more people took responsibility and made strides to make a bigger impact.
Hugs my sweet Punam, thank you for bringing awareness with your moving tribute to mother earth! 😊 ❤️🤗💗

How did I miss this one, Punam? It’s so good. Mother will re-invent herself. Todaý’s children will not have that luxury.

No worries. I am glad you like it. It is kinda sad when I think what our kids will be inheriting.

Who knows maybe there will be some brilliant technological solution to suck the carbon out of the atmosphere and store it securely underground. Dreams, ‘ey?

The dirge mellows…the poetic soul takes me down the stairs to the nativity…the childhood of mankind, cradled in nature’s lap…so powerful an imagery…enlightening !
It reminds me of one prosaic post my wife on her page…
Yes, she weeps not for herself…there is still time for her child to mend…..
