The time is upon us of those long hot days
everything moving at such a slow pace
I think I can hear the footsteps of my mind
though it seems to find itself in a bind
That thingamajig which kept it ticking and going
has vamoosed and gone into hiding
Playing peekaboo with sudden flashes and glimpses
like a novice I fail when within inches
Is it roaming like a nomad in search of greener pastures
am I no longer a good master
Has it has been lured by someone
for I can see in the vicinity the jealous one
All these years of practice at writing
gone to waste with that thing flying!
I enveigle it, as one would an errant young one
with treats of likes and comments well spun
I chew quills, tear empty page after page
raging at being so unfairly caged
If you see my thingamajig lurking somewhere
Just show it the path to my aboutwhere.
Beautiful. Mid-blowing.
“I can hear the footsteps of my mind”
You are so talented.

Because a woman like you wouldn’t fly “plain”!! I have such a vision of the 2 of us flying through the skies on our brooms…yes, I have one too! My dear friend used to tell me of certain people treating her badly–and I’d make her laugh by saying, “if they don’t stop I’m going to fire up my broom!” I think she half-believed I was so powerful! :)💝

Yes indeed! We really should have “action figures” made of us (like Super Man, etc)–we need a special name for “power women”! 🙂 Put your clever-creative thinking cap on, Punam–find a good name!! Yes, that’s your “homework assignment”–take as much time as you need! 🙂

I lost my thingamajig somewhere too, maybe yours and mine made friends? 😂😂. Such a gorgeous poem Punam, your talent abounds, regardless of where your thingamajic has got to? (A tour of nz perhaps?)

Haha! Rachel, that thingamajig better not go to NZ without me!! I have a feeling our thingamajigs are roaming hand in hand in the ether somewhere and enjoying our discomfort. 😂😂
Thanks a lot for your appreciation always…even when I write silly stuff. ❤️❤️

I think, your thingamajig, without a doubt, knows exactly what a good thing it’s on to and would barely let you out of its sight – let alone go to NZ without you. Maybe it’s just on a reconnaissance mission and will be back with details soon.
Your so called ‘silly stuff’is brilliant dear friend. I love the playful side of your writing ❤️❤️

My thingamajig wants to join yours and Rachel’s thingamajigs wherever they are! I don’t think they are under the same social distancing constraints. Oh! To be a thingamajig, wild and free! Thank you also for the new vocabulary word “inveigle”. I needed these lighthearted verses today!
