Time is words

Day 16: Father Time

Halt the clock
Halt the time
Time is relentless
Time is now
Now to live
Now to explore
Explore the world
Explore your soul
Soul is timeless
Soul never dies
Dies each moment
Dies as next arrives
Arrives the spring
Arrives the winter
Winter of life
Winter of discontent
Discontent leads to hate
Discontent can kill
Kill the time
Kill yourself don’t
Don’t mimic
Don’t ever stop
Stop the din
Stop the noise
Noise is life
Noise can travel
Travel through time
Travel light
Light as air
Light up your heart
Heart can be silly
Heart is love
Love conquers all
Love is life
Life is precious
Life is a gift
Gift your time
Gift a smile
Smile at strangers
Smile to win
Win not contests
Win over people
People don’t procrastinate
People don’t be careful
Careful with money
Careful with words
Words can hurt
Words can heal
Heal…
Hurt…

  1. Another wow-worthy one, each phrase a gem. Truly, discontent can lead to hate if not reined in, healed and changed. The final lines beginning with “gift your time” offer wise advice for a life that flourishes with bloom.

      1. The theme “time” can go in so many directions…I think that’s why I ended up tacking the tanka on the end of mine! And you are always welcome to my sincere praise of your work–it’s a treat to read really fine poetry!

  2. This poem is a great example of why I often dub you β€œoh wise one”. Every line a gem of wisdom and beauty. I know how hard this form is to write because I tried once and abandoned as it’s much more difficult than it seems it should be. As usual, you nailed it! ❀️❀️

    1. I agree it is not as easy as it appears because it is easy to stray from the theme! And now I must look for cover “oh generous one”! Your words fill me with an inner glow and at the same time try hard to hide my self consciousness at your generous words. Thank you, with all my heart! ❀️❀️

      1. Gosh, well, I’m kind of surprised you would say this, as that’s the category I put you in… but I relate entirely to the self doubt and negative self-comparison. Too much. I relate to that too much.

Thank you, always. You never cease to bring a smile to my face ❀️❀️

      2. To be very honest, I don’t belong there (you do) but it sure does warm the cockles of my heart ( how I love this cliched phrase) to be put there with the greats!
I wish you all the happiness and smiles, Rachel. 😊❀️❀️

  3. Wow Punam! Your mastery is most pronounced in this form! The rhythm, the images – all on point with the theme!! This form and your words give a fresh take on a time worn prompt. 😍
