I see not

Day 9: Eyes or what do you see

I see but don’t see

what I don’t want to see

poverty, plastic, pollution, politics

I put my blinkers on and

pretend these do not exist!

I turn a blind eye to

injustice, inequality and ineptitude

believing

I can’t change the age old norms!

I wear sunglasses to save me

from the glare of

uncomfortable, unpalatable and raw truth!

I am the proverbial blind bat

refusing to use my eyes!

  1. You have captured the state of mind for far too many…. it’s easy to turn a blind eye, much harder to see all the problems in the world. The proverbial blind bat – brilliant! ❤️❤️

    1. It is very easy and that’s the reason we have to remind ourselves to get angry and initiate change. The activist in me raises her voice now and then. Thanks a lot, Rachel. ❤️❤️

  2. This is an interesting perspective. I mean, from “eyes” and “what do you see” to both seeing and not seeing at the same time. Me, I love me a good duality – the more absolute, the better! Also, there is an element of necessity to this – one does need to keep reasonably sane, after all.

    1. Thanks a lot! For the previous two prompts I had taken a nostalgic trip, so I thought this would be a nice variation. Yes, you are right, one needs to cling to sanity.

  3. There is so much truth here – most people prefer not to see. Yet it won’t truly absolve them and it definitely doesn’t solve the problems. This was a powerful one!
