As she runs the bath for her beloved
Filling it with bubbles and froth
She hums to herself an old forgotten ditty
Talking of love and betrayal, it doth
She picks up the pile of clothes from the corner
Out falls a photo of a pretty maiden on the floor
It has her beloved’s name on the back
Her heart has been asunder tore
She recalls how he has been aloof of late
She is filled with rage, her face all blotched
She is certainly not the kind to mope around
She needs her sweet revenge, upon her troth!
She plots to teach him a lesson or two
He’s seen her love, now he’ll know her wrath!
A devious idea comes to her crafty mind
She gets busy with putting the finishing touch
As happenstance would have it
He is held up in traffic’s clutch
Before he is back home weary and tired
She wants her plan to be ready, pretty much
He comes back, she greets him at the door,
Dressed to look like a siren
Her dark eyes not giving away her plan a jot
As she plays to perfection, the wanton
One look at her and the maiden is forgotten
His eyes widen, she’s like a flame to this moth,
After soaking in the bath, when he comes out
She offers him chilled bubbly with froth
She leads him to the dining room
His favourite food is laden on tablecloth
He delightedly savours each spicy morsel
And dives with relish into the delicious broth
She watches coyly as he finishes his dinner
He slumps and his mouth begins to foam and froth
He who cheats and breaks her heart
On him, the worst of hell would be wrought!
Strong, powerful, revenge and love.. A plethora of emotions

I liked your almost whimsical story of betrayal and sweet revenge, as the poison ivy takes hold…..oh, I do like my evening meals,….. roast chicken with fresh vegetables tonight, and thank you,…. but I’ll cook the meal myself xx

Sweet, poisonous revenge served with a wanton smile. Reminded me of Dahl’s “Lamb to the Slaughter”. Well-written!

a tale of revenge, but if she wanted to poison she could have just put the food on the table, he would be hungry coming from the traffic, its a war! but wait was it in the bubbly? :O

Tsk, tsk! Where is the fun in just banging down the food on tthe table? He might not have eaten it! It could have been in anything he ate or drank!
