Legacy

Concrete spears trying to pierce

the not so azure sky

pylons standing like armed marauders

in what was once wilderness

ribbons of asphalt cutting through

patches of verdant valleys

haze hanging like a dull grey curtain

on coughing, choking cities

parched land crumbling

into a rust coloured dust bowl

following each other blindly

in this rat race for nothing

what are we leaving behind

for our kids to inherit!

  1. The concrete jungle that imposes itself on our earth, courtesy of us humans…. This is so wonderfully written, I imagined each and every image so clearly, and ended on this feeling of helplessness for this trajectory the world appears to be on. Full of wisdom and devastating beauty. You do this so well. Poetic genuis ❀️❀️
