Feet of clay

I followed the crowd, agape

awed by the sheer multitude from afar

I was dazzled by the brilliant aura

hypnotized by the seeming mastery

and I became an acolyte

no longer my level-headed self

but on a closer look

I found chinks,

flaws that were glaring

but surprisingly

glossed over by fawning fans

plus the fake humility and

the condescending airs

and tenuous link with reality

sort of put me off

I now prefer to mingle

with lesser known but

more talented, warm people

who don’t have feet of clay.

    1. Haha! Twitter and Insta poetry are out as I am on neither of the platforms! πŸ˜‚ I prefer real people with whom I can also converse. WP is full of amazing poets from whom I learn so much and who have also become friends. What more can a gal want! πŸ˜€β€οΈ
