His penitent gaze

did articulate

his abject misery

he raised his paw

to make contact

but slinked away

quietly on seeing

my stern expression

his woebegone eyes

tugged at my heart

I held out my hand

and he came bounding

towards me wagging

his tail joyously.

  1. A beautiful image, Punnam. My friend Phil, with whom I recorded nearly two weeks ago, has a six month old Portuguese Water Dog and he wagged his tail a lot πŸ™‚

  2. This is SO lovely, dogs have such a charm, and you captured it perfectly in this poem. ❀️ I am in a slightly dark space about pets, following my cat’s shenanigans with a mouse she brought into my bedroom in the middle of the night last night!
