The illustrious son of the soil
never forgot his roots
his heart restless
in the barren cityscape
in order to escape
the ordinariness of
much hyped fast-paced,
modern city life
he created vertical gardens,
rus-in-urbe to remind him
of his idyllic and scenic country life.
This is beautiful, Punam and reminds me of the Irish who left their country to settle in other countries. They would put a handful of soil into their pockets and sprinkle it at the foundation of their new homes. I can understand that those who come from rural settings see the cityscape as barren – without foliage. I was one of them for a long time and though there were green belts it wasn’t the same. I prefer the real deal and not theillusion 🙂

Wow! I didn’t know this. Thanks a lot for sharing the information about the Irish. I know the illusion is not the real deal. Thank you so much. 😊

This poetry has a very warm feel to it
Just the thought of creating a corner of you home in your so called home is so good.It happens with everyone I guess who lives there home/homeland/Mother’s house(daughters). We create a small place in that new space which resembles our own home
