It was just
a friendly gesture
reaching out
to the newcomer
across the fence
to say hello
but in my rush
I stomped over
the exotic flower
I had so lovingly
nurtured
my garden is
more important
than anything else
so I focus my attention
on what I have
and bid goodbye
to forging new relations.
What if it’s a particularly exotic newcomer?π

A plant in my garden better than the one across the bush? ππ

I lack green fingers. πI either forget to water or over water, plant at wrong time Which, is silly or over eager.

Plants are pretty forgiving compared to humans. But yes, they do need occasional attention. π

True, existing relationship are more important to nurture than forming new ones.

I was going to comment about something else with this poem but your (Sadjeβs) comment made me pause with the truth in the meaning of this poem. Well said, both of you!

i like the layering here Punam, I feel a shift in your universe from this poem, like you are taking back control of something you think you had lost, or I could be just so wrong!

You are absolutely right, Gina. Sometimes going with the flow is not so wise, we have to wrest control for our sanity. Thank you.

so well said, it is necessary and we need that balancing factor though it seems a change in direction, follow your heart’s content

Sometimes we have no idea what outcomes will result in rushing into something and I agree with everyone here, as gardeners we need to nurture the flowers we have already selected to be a part of our gardens. A most beautiful analogy, Punam.

Yes, Inky. I think we are all on the same page regarding looking after what we have planted in our garden. Thank you, so very much.

My mom is the one with the green thumb in my family always tending to her plants and gardens. πI used to enjoy time spent helping her in the garden before I moved so far away.π€π

Not all are blessed with the green thumb! But the fruits of a lovely garden can be enjoyed by all. π€π

This poem is profound and a good reminder for all of us.We must nurture the relations what we already have rather than jumping to new ones even I’d the new one is handsomeπ
