Inadequate

I string words carefully

choosing each with utmost care

writing, then rewriting

replacing some with better ones

You see,

I want them to convey

exactly what I feel

and oft, the words are

at my beck and call

Once I am satisfied

I present them to you

satisfied that they will convey

every nuance of my heart

Then, you just look at me

Wordlessly

Your eyes doing the talking

reaching deep within me

making my heart momentarily stop

and my words squirm at their inadequacy.
