In the halcyon days of my childhood
When there were no worries
and no cares
I sat like a royal
in front of the television
watching my favourite cartoon show
at which was my designated
time of the day
Life was easy,
life was wonderful
There were no turf wars
for the best seat
nor for the control of remote
But these days it is even worse
we all sit in different rooms
immersed in our gadgets
no fights, no conversations
no opinions exchanged
Except for online on social media
with rank outsiders
who hardly care!
Perfectly described. At least television was a communal event, although today it seems everyone in a family has his own set, in his own room.

Thank you so much. The more we are connected, the more solitary our life has become!

What was wonderful is now a solitary experience. You wrote a wonderful poem Punam.

Yes, though technology has brought us together, our life is more about spending time alone these days. Thank you so much, Hélène.

we now have a device that can detect drivers using their mobiles and the photos are devastating … driver is so totally absorbed texting that the passenger is steering … what about speed, braking, etc … many more are dying on roads now because of the blighters!

appalling … I often leave my phone at home when I go out … I can call back later!

Same here. But for some it has become a necessary appendage!

for me it’s a tool to use … although friends know I go to bed and rise early they were phoning too late … so switch it off at 8pm 🙂
Couldn’t do that with the landlines 😉

Couldn’t do that with landlines! But my sis would remove the receiver from the cradle to avoid untimely calls! Lol

lol we need to cut the umbilical chord … we were never meant to be so attached … my poor mum had a bad fall rushing to answer, forgot it was right beside her 😦

Oh, that’s bad! 😯
But you are right, we need to cut that chord!

Days gone by…times have definitely changed. I believe at times technology can be great, but it needs to have boundaries to remember the importance of spend quality time doing things in nature, and with friends and family. 🤗❤️

Exactly, Jenna! And it is us who have to do that. Thank you so much for adding to it. 😊💞

So beautifully expressed. At our home the TV watching is absolutely frugal, for many reasons and I am glad it is this way

You know, I find it sad that things that were meant to help us communicate and connect help us to shut up and disconnect. It’s a sad world.

It is indeed sad. But the upside is people like us from different parts of the globe are connected thanks to the same technology.
