Rendezvous

The rendezvous had been fixed a fortnight ago

He had agreed with alacrity without much ado

She was the one he had dreamt of all his life

He was sure she was the one who would be his wife

He had wooed her with ardour and gifts galore

She assured him, he was the one she did adore

And so they continued to meet whenever they could

Till he decided, pop the question he should

For this momentous everything was impeccably timed

His phone rang, “Darling, it’s over!” she flippantly chimed!
