Dancing on air

I did try it once

It was raining that day

And my love was new

Love and rains are

A heady combination

Pirouetting on air

I fell flat on my face!

Since then I prefer

To keep my feet

Firmly grounded

Letting my mind do

A whirling jig

Though I must admit

That too is not advisable

Leaves one dizzy and ditzy

As well as nauseous!

Dancing on air

Floating like a cloud

That feeling of euphoria

These days whenever

I feel these coming

I batten the hatches

And let the feeling pass.

Feet firmly planted

On dependable

Terra firma

I prefer a slow waltz

With my lover’s arm around my waist!

  1. Dances are best when they are physically shared and, surely, are safest with both feet planted firmly on the ground. Beautifully and wisely penned.
