The freedom of expression that you enjoy
Has been equally granted to me
Yet I find you are stalking me
And spying on me
Keeping tabs on me.
In the garb of advice
Always telling me what to say
As well as reminding me
How you were always there before me
If you can’t handle my freedom
It is surely your problem dear
Certainly not mine.
I love this one. Strong and defiant.

Thank you Jay. We are celebrating Independence Day in India, so I felt an assertive one today would be apt.

Oh, this is such an aptly written piece to coincide with India’s Independence Day. Unfortunately, many people we meet along the way are like this. They really offer back-handed advice that’s more judgmental than supportive. Your final lines speak volumes of truth: any issues another has is surely their issues. Love it. And, hope you had a wonderful Independence Day 🙂
