Falling in love

If I had one more heart

I would readily give it to you

And to you, you and

perhaps to you too!

But you see, the one I had, is already taken

Yet everyday, I keep falling in love

unplanned and spontaneously

my senses so easily enraptured

I fall in love with your sunrise

I fall in love with my dusk

I fall in love with traditional cooking

When the heady aromas envelop

I romance aromatic baking

For it brings a smile on my kids’ faces

Makes my home smell heavenly

And store bought cookies replaces

I fall in love with the angelic tangle of arms and legs

now asleep without a care

Whose sibling rivalry and revelry fill my home and heart

As well as my life and soul

I fall in love with your words, your turn of phrase

What you say and what you leave unsaid

I fall in love with the verses that reach out to me,

The stories that only your mind can create

Your unique experience that you kindly share

I fall in love with the pictures of blooms and pets you send

I fall in love with the magic of movies

And their world of wondrous make- believe

I fall in love with many a books

Their life like characters and their authors

And the belief and conviction that they portray

I fall in love with the music I listen to,

The singer, the writer and the musician

I fall in love with the raindrops falling

The overcast skies and the crescent moon

I fall in love hopelessly and completely everyday

And as my whimsical heart waxes and wanes in love

The one who captured my heart many moons ago

Sits in a corner looking indulgently

At the shenanigans of my wayward heart

He draws me close and holds my hand and says

” Your heart is not my captive, let it love and love freely

As long as I have a place in your heart

Accommodate as many loves as you can”

Thus, in freeing my heart, he captures it again.

  1. This is excellent . I see a real evolution in your writing as a poet – such an important step, should always be recognised.

There is so much about this poem I like. The journey it takes me on, the emotions I experience are sheer joy and brought such a smile.

The structure of ‘I love … and the lyrical images, so, so many.

Brilliant – great start to my day!

  2. I remember this poem! AND I’ve Not forgotten you, Punam ❤ I suppose I'm the prodigal poet…after a hiatus, I've returned. Not sure which name I used last, but I suspect you'll catch on to who I am…. I have a new blog, but you are not obliged to do all that reciprocating stuff–be at ease, dwell in Peace. Zelda (who always gave your rave 5-Star reviews 🙂 )

      1. Haha! I’m like the proverbial “bad penny” that keeps showing up! I’m pretty well, all things considered–keeping my Faith strong, holding onto Hope and being GRATEFUL…and of course, maintaining my sense of Humor, which I recommend to everyone (laughter is like vitamins)!! How are you and your family doing? Thanks for missing me–you were one of the top lovely bloggers I wanted to reconnect with right away ❤ ❤ ❤

  3. What a dreamy piece of writing, Punam. Wants me to fall in love with every piece of life.

    Wish I could reblog it.

Thanks for uplifting our day with this gem.
    Bless.

    1. Natasha, thank you so much! It feels wonderful when my words resonate with others.

I could not leave a comment on your post, so I am sharing it here.

Natasha, thank you so much for dropping a link of your post. I so enjoyed it! From your heartwarming verse, to your good-natured nephew, sharbat-e-mohabbat to bonding over food…love is certainly everywhere. Food is certainly the adhesive that binds most families! Enjoy your time with your family.

      1. I’m sorry you could not comment, dear Poonam. What exactly was the issue, if you could tell me. I’m so glad the Mohabbat of the Sharbat resonated. 😉

      2. Natasha, I did finally manage to leave the same comment on your post. When I left a comment on your blog, I kept getting the message…tick the privacy box and then when I tried through the reader, it said…. comments are closed. WP is strange.

        It sure did. 😊

      3. WP is indeed strangely dubious at times dear Punam. Thank you so much for making the effort to try again.

Your comment made me grin ear to ear. 🙂
