Candyman

The candyman would come everyday

Bearing a sweet treat for her

He had the uncanny knack to know

What her heart desired.

Sometime one, at others two

He knew what her sweet tooth craved

And thus blossomed a sweet relation

On a common love that brought them together.

Everyday she would wait eagerly

For a new candy from the candyman

Who was happy to get his remuneration

In her sincere, kind words.

  1. Oh what a rich candyman, to receive such remuneration. I love the give and take in this piece and the analogy of the candyman. The reward is in the giving, always! This reminded me of a Craig Werth song called ‘The Spokesman’. It’s about a guy who collects parts of bicycles and reassembles them to make functional bikes which he gives away. Enjoy this live recorded version!

      1. Bank balance… I really like that! What is given from the heart is given freely. I hope you enjoy it. Craig is a great guy who writes the most beautiful poetry. And, he’s such a fabulous guitarist and overall musician. You are welcome for the treat, my friend πŸ™‚

      2. You are kindly welcome. Funny you should use the word gem as he’s also written a song called Loose Gems, which is the title of one of his albums πŸ™‚ Glad you are enjoying it.
