Peccadillo

When they heard the doorbell

It sounded more like the death knell

For them all hell broke loose

She signalled him to vamoose

He rushed towards the window

And jumped into the street below

Alas! He was caught by the police

No broken bones, in one piece

An investigation was carried out

In vain he tried to use his clout

He was finally tried and denied bail

Not for adultery but for theft, sent to gaol

The wife of the noble marquis

Got away scot free.

    1. Even I had no idea where it would go when I started writing. With prompts like ‘below’ and ‘investigation’ law enforcement had to step in. πŸ˜‚
About what was stolen…your guess is as good as mine!πŸ˜‰

      1. The best poetic journeys are those with no end in mind. I imagine it was more a give away than a theft 😊
